Introducing SiteScape Multi-Scan - Get the full context by scanning 10x more of your site at once

Since the first SiteScape beta back in August 2020, our #1 request from users has been bigger scans with better accuracy. The engineering challenge is that in any mobile scanning system, tracking a device’s location in space creates drift over time - meaning the longer you scan, the less accurate the results. Early on, we choose to prioritize spatial accuracy by artificially limiting the maximum scan size in order to mitigate drift and best serve the AEC industry with accurate scans.

Today, that changes! After a year of development, we are excited to launch Multi-Scan, the fastest way to capture areas up to 5,000 sqft (500 sqm) without compromising accuracy. With Multi-Scan, you can quickly capture up to 10 neighboring scans at once and seamlessly sync them to the cloud thanks to background uploading. Then in the SiteScape web app, you can easily align scan segments and merge them into a single point cloud encompassing the full building.

Building-Scale Capture Takes Off!

But we aren’t the only ones thinking big. In Chicago, a program at the Illinois Institute of Technology is using SiteScape to create a digital twin of their entire campus. Since the fall, they have fully mapped 7 buildings totaling over 450,000 square feet!
